Why Consider Alzheimer’s Treatment at Seven Hills Hospital in Las Vegas
As Alzheimer’s disease progresses, people will likely begin to experience changes in their behavior, lose the cognitive ability to communicate appropriately, and lose the ability to recognize people and places that were once familiar to them. As their memory deteriorates and they become less able to complete the daily tasks of living on their own, they will begin to need around-the-clock care. This can be a difficult thing to accept, but there is no shame in receiving help at a professional treatment center or hospital that specializes in Alzheimer’s disease.
An inpatient center can be one of the best ways for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease to begin receiving the help that they need. Not only do inpatient centers at hospitals for Alzheimer’s disease provide the nonstop care that these people require, but they are also able to provide individuals with education about their illness, as well as implement a routine of medications that will help alleviate the symptoms they are experiencing. By developing this regimen in an inpatient setting at a professional treatment center or hospital for concerns related to Alzheimer’s disease, people are monitored in order to ensure that the medication is working effectively and that no complications arise. Inpatient centers also work with families in helping them understand their loved one’s illness and guiding them as to how they most help him or her as the disease progresses.

Once admitted into our center, we work with each patient to develop his or her own individualized plan of care which will be implemented in a safe, secure, and structured environment. We have an adolescent unit for children between the ages of 11-17, an adult mental health unit, an adult substance abuse treatment unit, an adult rehabilitation unit, and a geriatric unit, all tailored to meet the specific needs of each population while receiving treatment at our hospital. We utilize a number of different therapeutic techniques on each of our units including the following:
Detoxification: When adult patients come to us and are struggling with a dependency to alcohol or drugs, they will first go through the detoxification process in order to remove all toxic substances from their bodies before fully engaging in the therapeutic process. All patients in our detox center are provided with 24 hour monitoring by doctors and nurses.
Medication management: Every patient who comes to us for treatment is seen within 24 hours by an internal medicine doctor in order to obtain a thorough medical history and to assess for any possible health complications. Additionally, all patients meet with a psychiatrist daily in order to monitor the therapeutic effectiveness of any medications that may have been prescribed and to make any changes that may be necessary.
Individual therapy: Individual counseling sessions are held on an as-needed basis and are designed to provide patients with time to meet one-on-one with a therapist in order to work on specific things that they may be struggling with.
Family therapy: Family counseling sessions are held once a week for patients on our adolescent unit and are provided on an as-needed basis for all other units. Family sessions are helpful at engaging the entire family in their loved one’s treatment process and showing them how they can best support their loved one during this time. Additionally, time is set aside for family visitation seven days a week for our adolescent and geriatric patients and five days a week for patients on all other units.
Group therapy: Group therapy is the main treatment method used here at Seven Hills Hospital. All patients participate in at least two to three groups daily. Topics of discussion may include coping skills, stress management, anger management, effectively expressing emotions, communication skills, and life skills. For patients who are struggling with chemical dependency, there are also groups aimed at providing education surrounding addictive behaviors and triggers.
Experiential therapy: In addition to the more traditional treatment modalities, we also offer a number of other programs designed to help our patients heal. These additional programs may include:
- A.A. meetings on Tuesdays and Saturdays
- Creative arts
- Medication education provided by a nurse on each unit once a week
- Meetings with a dietician
- Music therapy
- Physical fitness opportunities
- Recreational therapy
