Seven Hills Behavioral Institute's treatment programs are accredited by the Joint Commission. The Joint Commission, an independent non-profit organization, is the leader in accreditation and certification of healthcare organizations.
Seven Hills Behavioral Institute is a subsidiary of Pioneer Behavioral Health.
Seven Hills Behavioral Institute offers a highly structured alcohol and drug addiction rehab program, with a holistic approach to healing patients as they move into the first stages of recovery. Each patient participates in various proven treatment modalities during their stay at the state-of-the-art Seven Hills facility. Specialized treatment of co-occurring disorders are addressed as well. At the center of our approach, however, are the 12-Steps and 12-Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous, providing a foundation for ongoing recovery even after the patient returns home.
The treatment program at Seven Hills Behavioral Institute is run by a multidisciplinary team of licensed alcohol and drug addiction counselors, mental health technicians, physicians, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, recreational therapists and internists. Respected addictionologist and board certified psychiatrist Dr. James Vilt leads our team of specialists as they meet the physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of each patient through a variety of therapeutic practices and activities, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - This short-term, focused form of treatment is based on the idea that thought patterns and habitual behaviors inform our emotions and contribute to the development of addiction. When a patient makes deliberate and careful changes to his internal processing of events and situations, he often makes big strides toward recovery.
Group Therapy - In group therapy, patients are able to process their experiences, their struggles, and their achievements in treatment while receiving feedback and peer support. The group dynamic improves social skills and communication skills, and can play a huge role in recovery.
Canine Therapy - This innovative and highly effective form of recreational therapy involves interacting with a trained dog. Our therapy dog Rikka provides a calming presence. She has a way of making patients feel at home through the unconditional love she provides.
Family Education - Close family members of our patients are invited to free addiction education sessions and may also be included in private counseling and conflict resolution sessions with the patient when appropriate. Recovery is for the whole family, and we encourage loved ones of our patients to attend visiting hours and to learn as much as possible about addiction and the rehabilitation process.
Meditation - Patients who participate in guided meditation therapy are able to reconnect with their spiritual nature. This quiet, calming therapy can have a huge impact on a patient's peace of mind and ability to cope with stress once the time in rehab comes to an end.
Exercise - All of our patients participate in daily exercise both on site and in an exclusive local fitness center. At Seven Hills, the physical aspect of health and recovery is highly valued. Physical activity and recreation provide the body with endorphins, contributing to increased energy, mental acuity and an overall sense of well-being.
Nutritional Care - The Seven Hills Cafe proudly serves delicious gourmet meals, prepared by our dedicated chef, for the health and enjoyment of our patients. We understand the contribution that proper nutrition can make to recovery. Meals at Seven Hills are a time of physical renewal and pleasure for the senses.
At Seven Hills Behavioral Institute, we strive for excellence at every level. All of our patients enjoy comfortable, dual occupancy rooms in the newly opened 55-bed Seven Hills facility. We take pride in our bright, beautiful environment and the high quality of our accommodations.
Seven Hills Behavioral Institute has a specialty treatment program for chemically dependent individuals who, in addition to their drug addiction and/or alcoholism, may also have an overlapping mental illness or history of emotional trauma. Some of the complex problems that must be addressed in addition to addiction are:
In such cases, services for both the presenting mental or emotional disorder and alcoholism or substance abuse are provided simultaneously by the same Seven Hills multidisciplinary treatment team of doctors and clinicians. Research supports treating co-occurring disorders at the same time as addiction so the effects of one on the other can be understood.
We provide a safe, supportive, structured and nurturing environment that addresses the primary symptoms of each patient. Identifying and beginning to resolve the emotional issues that have contributed to the development and maintenance of the mental illness or disorder is crucial for effective recovery.
