Admissions Criteria at Seven Hills

First, when considering if Seven Hills Hospital is the right place for you or a family member, please review our general admissions criteria. Though all admissions decisions are made on a person-by-person basis according to each individual’s specific needs and goals, we do require that individuals who heal with us meet certain general requirements, such as the following:

• Our programming is designed for male and female patients ages 5 and above.
• We accept voluntary patients as well as those who are on a legal hold.
• We are prepared to treat individuals who currently pose a danger to themselves or others.
• We cannot accept patients who require significant medical attention, who have severe symptoms of autism, or who are experiencing intellectual or developmental disabilities that would preclude their ability to fully engage in treatment.

Starting Our Admissions Process

As indicated above, the admissions process can begin with a simple phone call or a prospective patient may come to our center at any time for a walk-in assessment. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For voluntary admissions to Seven Hills Hospital, prospective patients will meet with a member of our clinical staff for an assessment. During this meeting, the clinician will collect pertinent information to determine if our program is capable of providing both the specific type and level of care that will best meet the individual’s unique needs.

If the clinician who conducts your assessment determines that Seven Hills Hospital is not the best fit for you or your loved one, we will work with you and your family to identify other programs in the area that may be better prepared to help you achieve your treatment goals.

If your assessment indicates that Seven Hills Hospital is the right place for you, we can immediately begin the intake process.

Entering Treatment at Seven Hills

When you or your loved one is accepted into treatment at Seven Hills Hospital, you will be provided with information regarding your rights as a patient and what you can expect during your stay with us. Our goal in all communication with patients and family members is to be as transparent as possible and to ensure that you have the answers that you need in order to make the most informed decisions for yourself or on behalf of your loved one.

Following this introduction, the new patient will be escorted to the unit where he or she will receive care. The unit nurse will collect some additional information, and the patient may immediately begin to participate in group therapy and other unit activities.

All new patients will have their first daily meeting with their assigned psychiatrist within 24 hours of their admission. New patients will also meet with their case manager and primary therapist within 72 hours of admission.
