The Jason Foundation

In 1997, Clark Flatt’s son, Jason, committed suicide at age 16. Since then, Flatt has established the non-profit organization the Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI) to supply resources and programs to communities nationwide. Based out of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Flatt’s efforts include raising awareness about youth suicide and developing programming and services that can help community members identify and offer support to at-risk youth.

Seven Hills Hospital, the local JFI affiliate in Nevada, is where parents, school personnel, students, and others in the community can obtain materials and programming that will help them aid in assisting youths in the Nevada area.

In Nevada:

  • Suicide is the second leading cause of death for middle and high school age youth (12 – 18).
  • Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college age youth (18 – 22).

The Nevada Youth Risk Behavioral Survey reported:

  • Almost 1 out of 5 young people seriously considered suicide in the past twelve months
  • Almost 1 out of 9 young people attempted suicide in the past twelve months

Working at the national leader in youth suicide awareness and offering prevention programs to combat suicide, JFI offers information, services, and training at no cost. To learn more about JFI or to request materials, please reach out to Seven Hills Hospital or visit the JFI website at jasonfoundation.com.

Individuals Talking in Circle

I dealt with all the stress in my life by taking a variety of drugs. This habit eventually turned into a drug addiction that completely took over my life. After getting treatment at Seven Hills, I am now celebrating my first year sober and look forward to many more.
